Home-Start Babergh Volunteers

Our volunteers all have parenting experience themselves and come from a huge variety of backgrounds. Because Dads as well as Mums sometimes need support, we have both male and female volunteers.

We match families with volunteers having regard to needs and personalities with a view to promoting a genuine and trusting friendship between them. All our volunteers have completed a preparation course and have had enhanced CRB checks, as required by child protection legislation. After training and appointment, they are matched to a family and provide non-judgemental, free and confidential support.

In addition to home visits, some of our volunteers also help at Family Group meetings.

Some of our volunteers have served for many years. Long service awards were presented at the 2009 Annual General Meeting. In all, there were 14 volunteers who have served for terms ranging from 5 to 18 years, and all received awards. Shown here is Lesley Burrows receiving her award.

If you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer see our Volunteering page, and check the Diary page for notice of forthcoming volunteer preparation courses.
