Who Can be Referred?

Referrals to Home-Start

Home-Start Babergh works in all parts of the Babergh area with families who are experiencing difficulties or suffering stress and who have at least one child under 5 years of age.

Families can find it hard to cope for a variety of reasons. For example

They may be feeling lonely and isolated.
They may have a child who is ill or be ill them selves.
There may have been a family bereavement.
They may be struggling with the physical and emotional demands of having a new baby, young children twins or triplets.
They may need help with budgeting or healthy eating.
They may be suffering from post natal illness or be feeling low and lacking confidence.

Anybody can refer a family to Home-Start provided that the family is in agreement.

Referrers include...

Health Visitors
Childrens Centres
Social Workers
Midwives
Playgroup workers
Community Psychiatric nurses
Other voluntary organisations
Teachers
Probation Services
G.Ps

Families can also refer themselves.

The Referral process

Referrers should complete the Home-Start referral form, preferably with the family. The form is in two parts, here and here. Please complete both parts.
